ન્યુઝીલેંડ વાયવ્ય પ્રશાંત મહાસાગર માં બે મોટા ટાપુઓ અને અન્ય ઘણાં નાના ટાપુઓથી બનેલો દેશ છે.
ન્યુઝીલેંડ ના ૪૦ લાખ લોકો માંથી ૩૦ લાખ લોકો ઉત્તરીય ટાપુ પર રહે છે અને ૧૦ લાખ લોકો દક્ષિણી ટાપુ પર રહે છે. આની ગણના વિશ્વના સૌથી મોટા દ્વીપમાં થાય છે અન્ય દ્વીપોમાં ખૂબ ઓછા લોકો રહે છે અને તે દ્વીપો ખૂબ નાના છે.
