गीतोपदेशः तत्रैकाग्रं मनः कृत्वा यतचित्तेन्द्रियक्रियः । उपविश्यासने युञ्ज्याद्योगमात्मविशुद्धये ॥ १२ ॥

अन्वयः
यतचित्तेन्द्रियक्रियः शुचौ देशे स्थिरं नात्युच्छ्रितं नातिनीचं चैलाजिनकुशोत्तरम् आत्मनः आसनं प्रतिष्ठाप्य तत्र आसने उपविश्य मनः एकाग्रं कृत्वा आत्मविशुद्धये योगं युञ्ज्यात् ।

शुद्धे स्थाने अधोभागे तादृशम् आसनं भवेत् यत् न अत्युन्नतं नापि अतिनीचम् । तस्मिंश्च आसने कुशान् अजिनं मृदुवस्त्रं च क्रमेण प्रसार्य, तत्र उपविश्य अवधानेन मनःप्रभृतीनां सर्वेषाम् इन्द्रियाणां क्रियां नियन्त्र्य चित्तशुद्धये समाधिं कुर्यात् ।
शाङ्करभाष्यम्
प्रतिष्ठाप्य किम्-तत्र तस्मिन्नासन उपविश्य योगं युञ्ज्यात्। कथं, सर्वविषयेभ्य उपसंहृत्यैकाग्रं मनः कृत्वा यतचित्तेन्द्रियक्रियः चित्तं चेन्द्रियाणि च चितेन्द्रियाणितेषां क्रियाः संयता यस्य स यतचित्तेन्द्रियक्रियः। स किमर्थं योगं युञ्ज्यादित्याह आत्मविशुद्धयेऽन्तःकरणस्य विशुध्द्यर्थमित्येतत् ।।12।।
