John Stuart Mill: British philosopher and political economist (1806–1873)
John Stuart Mill (20 May 1806 – 8 May 1873) was an English philosopher and political economist.
He was a classical liberal thinker of the 19th century. He was for utilitarianism, the ethical theory first proposed by his third godfather Jeremy Bentham.
As a utilitarian, he believed that the good of society as a whole is more important than the pleasure of one or a few individuals.
