Murphys lov er eit postulat som slår fast at «noko vil gå gale i kvar ein situasjon om det får sjansen» (things will go wrong in any given situation, if you give them a chance).
Vanlegvis vert lova referert slik: «Alt som kan gå gale, går gale», eller kortare: «[Er det ikkje] typisk». «Loven» blir ofte brukt humoristisk, til dømes for å hjelpa på ein irriterande situasjon.
Det opphavlege sitatet frå den sannsynlege opphavsmannen Edward A. Murphy Jr., i 1948 skal ha vore «If there are two or more ways to do something, and one of those ways can result in a catastrophe, someone will do it».
