This page enables administrators to handle requests for permissions on the English Wiki English.
Requests for permissions |
---|
Administrators are able to modify account creator, autopatrolled, confirmed, file mover, extended confirmed, mass message sender, new page reviewer, page mover, pending changes reviewer, rollback, and template editor rights, and AutoWikiBrowser access. Editors wishing to request a permission flag here should do so following the procedure below. Editors requesting permissions are advised to periodically revisit the requests page, as notifications will not always be given after a decision is made. Editors should not expect their request to be answered right away and should remember to be patient when filing a request. To find out what permissions your account has, go to Special:Preferences, where your permissions are listed in the user profile tab under "Member of groups". Requests for permissions are archived regularly; please see Wiki: Requests for permissions/Archive for an index of past requests. |
If this page has been recently modified, it may not reflect the most recent changes. Please purge this page to view the most recent changes. |
Several permissions are requested and handled elsewhere:
If you wish to have any of your permission flags (except administrator) removed, you should contact an administrator. If you want your administrator flag removed, you should contact a bureaucrat.
This is not the place to request review of another user's rights. If you believe someone's actions merit removal of a permission flag, you should raise your concern at the incidents noticeboard.
The bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight flags are removed at meta:Steward requests/Permissions. Stewards will typically not carry out such requests unless they are made on behalf of the Arbitration Committee, by a user who is requesting their own access be removed, or in cases of an emergency.
To make a request for a permission, click "add request" next to the appropriate header and fill in the reason for wanting permission.
Any editor may comment on requests for permission.
Administrators are permitted to grant account creator, autopatrolled, confirmed, event coordinator, file mover, mass message sender, new page reviewer, page mover, pending changes reviewer, rollback and template editor flags to any user who meets the criteria explained above and can be trusted not to abuse the tool(s). Administrators may either grant these permissions permanently or temporarily. For convenience, a bot will automatically comment with relevant data if the user does not meet configurable qualifications. Even if the bot does not comment, administrators should review the user's contributions and logs to ensure the tools will be used appropriately and check for any indication of potential misuse.
Once an administrator has granted a permission or decided to deny a request, they should add {{done}} or {{not done}} respectively under the request with their comments. If a user already has the requested permission, or is autoconfirmed and requesting confirmed, {{already done}} should be used. N hours after the last comment was made (as specified by the config), the request will be archived automatically: approved requests will be placed here; declined requests will go here. See User:MusikBot/PermClerk#Archiving for more information on archiving functionality.
Requests for permissions is primarily intended for editors requesting a permission for their own account. Other editors are welcome to comment if they have specific information that is relevant to that request that a patrolling administrator is unlikely to discover for themselves. Otherwise, since only administrators can effectively respond to these requests, general comments or 'clerking' by other users are rarely helpful. Non-administrators cannot "decline" to grant a request, because they're not in a position to accept it.
A limited exception to this is Wiki: Requests for permissions/Autopatrolled, where third party nominations are encouraged. Other editors should still avoid offering general remarks on requests and leave the final decision to an administrator.
Creates short, focussed article that are consistently suitable during patrol; an experienced editor most active in areas other than page creation. Klbrain (talk) 14:17, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
My previous application was rejected as I didn't meet the minimum 25 articles requirement, but now I've surpassed that and continue to create more, mainly focusing on film articles and Indian village and town articles. I believe I have sufficient knowledge about WP:GNG, WP:NFILM, WP:NPOL, and more. Therefore, I think I'm now eligible for this right. Thanks. Grabup (talk) 15:49, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
I'd like to request AWB permissions, in order to be able to make repetitive and non-controversial changes more efficiently than by hand. I sometimes come across situations where this would be beneficial - e.g., a couple of months ago, I noticed that there were a number of featured lists that were only marked as List-Class
in {{WikiProject Lists}}. My current reason for requesting is in order to perform cleanup following the closure of this RfD discussion - to migrate the redirects on this list to use {{R from subtitle alone}}, & to migrate the rest of the transclusions of {{R from subtitle}} to {{R from title and subtitle}}. I have read through and understand the AWB Guide & the AWB Rules.
If this request is granted, please can my alt account a smart kitten (AWB) [verify] be added to the checkpage? (Also, as my alt, please can it be granted confirmed and XC in case any pages are protected?)
Let me know if there are any queries. All the best, —a smart kitten[meow] 10:50, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
Would like to automate fixing some year in Ireland related links, above suggested edit counts, also want to help out with typos. In case the bot is annoying, I removed one of my earlier requests because I realized the guidlines were for mainspace, not all, edits. Me Da Wikipedian (talk) 11:54, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
I have made many constructive edits to Wikipedia, and have a decent amount of experience in Articles for Creation, and I have approved AfC reviewer for nearly 1 year. I have had no controversy thus far while working in this area. I mainly want to focus on patrolling the backlog of redirects, but occasionally I would also review articles. I also know my limits, and only work in the areas I am confident in, or I seek help. I am big on assuming the good faith of editors and pointing them in the right direction if their efforts are misguided, as I often do at AfC. aaronneallucas (talk) 04:40, 12 April 2024 (UTC)
I would like to participate in the upcoming backlog drive. I have done a trial period before. Knowledgegatherer23 (Say Hello) 17:46, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
I was added to this group on a 2-month trial period and was instructed by Hey man im josh to re-apply a week before the permission expires. Therefore, I'm requesting to continue using this tool so I can review newly created articles. Thank you. GSS 💬 05:12, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
I have actively participated in numerous AFD discussions and have also initiated several. My experience primarily revolves around Indian Film articles, where I've created many articles. I also have dealt with issues such as paid and spammy citations with Admin “Kuru”. While I currently review new articles from the 'New pages feed,' I lack the authority to accept them. However, I regularly tag articles for speedy deletion when they meet the criteria, resulting in their removal. I'm now requesting a one-month trial for the New Page reviewer right. If my contributions are deemed beneficial, I hope to continue, but if not, I understand and am willing to relinquish the right after the trial period. Grabup (talk) 06:54, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
I was granted new page reviewer rights temporarily and I think that I'm ready to get them permanently since I've tagged and patroled over 50 pages now. I've also tagged many pages for deletion that were unfit for the wiki. Finally, I would like to participate in the May backlog drive. I thank the reviewing admin for their time and hope that I will be granted this perm. – PharyngealImplosive7 (talk) 16:45, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi. I generally rotate between different maintenance activities such as RC patrol, pending changes patrol, and edit request patrol, and would like to contribute to the NPP/AFC queues too. Editing Wikipedia for 15 years, but with long bouts of low activity or inactivity, but I feel I have a strong grasp on the core policies (especially copyright-related). Despite focusing on maintenance mainly, I have created/significantly contributed to few articles, most recently XZ Utils backdoor (permalink when moved from draft to mainspace) and BG3. Thanks for your time. Melmann 22:09, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
I regularly create pages and want to save others time from reveiwing pages created by me, in addition to that I would be able to help with the backlog. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 00:22, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
I requested and was granted one month of the permission previously ([3]), to participate in the January 2024 NPP backlog where I reviewed 51 articles. I have been away from Wikipedia for a few months due to personal issues, but I plan to get back into editing the next few days/weeks and would like to participate in the upcoming May backlog drive. I don't mind if the permission is granted on a permanent or temporary basis. Darcyisverycute (talk) 03:34, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
Applying since I received an invitation to join New pages patrol in order to help out with the NPP backlog. I have created well over a hundred new articles and am familiar with new articles should be reviewed, as well as how CSD, AfD, RC, and other related processes work. Been moderately active at AFD for some time now and find the queue-like work meditative. Would like to help pay down the backlog. BrigadierG (talk) 02:08, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
Hello. I would like to request NPP rights to help review newly-created articles and lower the backlog. To start, I have over 5500 edits on en.wiki, with over 1500 in the mainspace. I also have moderate experience in the article creation process, being a AfC reviewer and having created several articles. I also have experience in the deletion process, having tagged lots of pages for CSD (and later having most of them deleted) and participating in AfD. If the NPP right is granted, I will start carefully patrolling the NewPagesFeed and contributing to the reviewing process. Thank you for considering my request! '''[[User:CanonNi]]'''

I would love to apply to be a New Page Reviewer. With my experience on Wikipedia, I believe that I will be able to effectively contribute in this area. I hope my request is well considered. Many thanks. Mevoelo (talk) 08:35, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
Hello! I'm requesting New Pages Reviewer rights because I like working with new articles and editors, and I want to help with the May drive. I've been an AfC reviewer since October 2022, and know how to treat these new articles. Also, I participated in the November 2023 WPAFC drive and helped to get that backlog down to zero. I copyedit, but now I primarily work in counter-vandalism. I'm a pending changes reviewer and a rollbacker as well. Thanks! —asparagusus (interaction) sprouts! 14:37, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
Been actively reviewing pages through NewPagesFeed. I have good knowledge about WP:GNG, WP:AFD, WP:CSD. I careful review notability of the subject or ensure WP:BEFORE prior nominating an article for deletion. Looking forward for New page reviewer rights :) Thank you. 𝓡𝔂𝓭𝓮𝔁 17:27, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi! I had a trial period back in February and I think it went well. I didn't reapply before it expired because I was in the middle of moving, but I'd love to get back to it. — Moriwen (talk) 19:37, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
I have recently received rollback rights a few weeks ago, and I would like to request for pending changes reviewer because I believe that I would be good at reviewing pending changes. With around four months of experience patrolling RecentChanges and fulfilling all of the criteria, I believe that I am a good candidate for this right. Thank you. 2003 LN6 16:19, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
I'm actively participating in editing and reverting disruptive edits, vandalism by patrolling the RecentChanges. I use Twinkle/RedWarn to revert edits. I'm interested in pending changes reviewer rights so I can patrol any new edits that involves Vandalism, Disruptive Edits, Edit Testings, Trolls and approve constructive edits. Looking forward :) 𝓡𝔂𝓭𝓮𝔁 17:15, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
I have experience in patrolling recent changes for vandalism and other forms of nonconstructive editing, and other places for content policies, using various gadgets. It would be nice to have the ability to properly review edits on pages with pending changes protection. Cleo Cooper (talk) 20:47, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi and thanks for looking. I'do love to volunteer in patrolling recent changes as well as other aspect of vandalism. My previous request was followed by my bad in lacking civility over IPs, which Dan Cherek advised me. For atleast close/a month, I've taken the advice and sometimes instead of warning, I write messages to the editor in question. I'm not perfect but will do my best in patrolling Special:RecentChanges. I have maintained at least in a good capability, a track record of consistently notifying editors after reverting. Thanks for considering me also.Edits! Talk! 11:30, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
I'm pretty good at identifying and reverting disruptive edits, vandalism, trolls by patrolling the RecentChanges. I use Twinkle/RedWarn to revert edits. I'm interested in rollback rights so I can patrol edits involving Vandalism, Disruptive Edits, Edit Testings, Trolls and revert em. Looking forward for contributing :) Thanks.
