It's the second biggest oblys in Kazakhstan, by being 300 629 km² (which is 11% of the whole country's area). The population consists of 895.1 thousands (1 Jan of 2020). There are eight cities in this region: Aktobe, Alga, Embi, Kandyagash, Khromtau, Shalkar, Temir, and Zhem.
