1991 Soviet Coup D'état Attempt

The August Coup was a coup d'etat in Russia August of 1991 in which communist hardliners in the Soviet Communist Party tried to wrestle control of the country from Mikhail Gorbachev, who they believed deviated from communist doctrine too much.
