Secundum chronologia archaeologica Graeciae, cultura Mycenaena est pars posterior Helladicae culturae, periodus Helladica posterior I-III. Loci principales culturae Mycenaea fuerunt Mycenae ipsae, Athenae, Pylos, Thebae et Tiryns, ubi reges (appellatione wanax vocati) palatia aedificaverunt. Dicitur tandem universum ab Homero descriptum aetatem Mycenaeam esse.
