Miku no longer a Vocaloid per se after the announced synthesis engine change.

Miku rights owner and developer Crypton Future Media has announced that Hatsune Miku v5 won't be released for the "Yamaha Vocaloid version 5" environment. They are building a new, in-house brewed singing synthesis engine called Miku NT (New Type) instead, with a demo already available, the beta version forecast for March 2020 and RTM version in August: https://www.mikufan.com/next-generation-hatsune-miku-nt-new-type-software-version-announced-preorders-and-demo-songs-released/

This means Miku is breaking with the 20+ year old succession of Vocaloid technology (Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, Spain -> Yamaha Music Corporation) and she is now a cryptonloid, rather than a vocaloid. The other CFM character voice creations (Luka, Len, Rin) have also been announced to abandon Vocaloid tech and migrate to CFM's own "New Type" synthesis engine. 94.21.237.83 (talk) 22:18, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

Hatsune Miku does not write songs

I think it may be valuable to put extra focus on clarity and intent while referring to songs featuring Miku. Hatsune Miku is not a real person and does not write any of the songs she's used in. Songs are not "by Miku", they're by specific producers and may feature Miku. Wording it as if Hatsune Miku herself is the one writing and releasing these songs is confusing and simply untrue. The fact that she can be used by anyone is a vital aspect of her as both a character and music software, so paying special attention to the phrasing may be useful in the future. Absolutely agree. I've already made a quick effort to de-personify the article as a whole, as Hatsune Miku is just a popular character who originated in software that a. does not "own" anything outside of their characterization and b. cannot write songs, but rather have songs written and attributed to them. Over-personification as if the character is a living being is at best inaccurate, at worst downright confusing. Mr. Spink talkcontribs 06:22, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
A lot of Miku's cult popularity owes it to her having character in the first place, so I think some amount of that personification in the article is fine, but if it gets to the point where readers are confused on who/what Miku is, it's definitely gone too far. I think it might be alright to refer to live performances in that way though? Considering her whole "virtual diva" characterization, official shows are effectively the closest thing there is to "the real-life Hatsune Miku". It's not objectively inaccurate like calling vocaloid producers' creations "Miku's songs", and it's probably the least clunky way to write about them. There are references that state that Hatsune Miku is 16 years old, so maybe we can add some citations nearby the 16 years old claims, such as:

Not 100% sure if these sources are reliable, but I think citations to back up a claim about Hatsune Miku's age may be useful. Qwertyxp2000 (talk | contribs) 23:11, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
