Widescreen: Aspect ratio of a displayed image

Widescreen are all the aspect ratios wider than the formerly conventional aspect ratio 4:3.

Most display screens for television, and the majority for movies, were 4:3 in the 20th century, but the majority of TV sets and of computer monitors in the early 21st century are16:9 widescreen.
