On The Numberjacks page, I removed seasons 3-4 and UK DVD Releases 7-9 because they are not real. As far as I know, there are only 2 seasons and 6 UK DVD releases. 2.219.205.159 (talk) 08:54, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! I didn't suggest you had vandalised the article. My edit summary stated "unexplained removal of content". Because you had not used an WP:edit summary, there was no way to know if you had removed the info in good faith or if it was for more nefarious reasons. Is there anywhere that has sourcing for the actual seasons of the show? Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:17, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for helping out! I am betting you are like me, mind is faster than the fingers? Observation.org is a website that scientists to validate and exchange their scientific observations.
But seriously, thank you. I typically do not do much on creating articles, but working on it. Some of the stuff you removed is from your home wiki :) Like the regulations part (which I agree on). Thanks, and be well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 01:56, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- Sure, typos happen to everyone. I think "is a website that scientists use to validate and exchange scientific observations" is much more simple (and suitable) than an overtly verbose and promotional "worldwide platform" or whatever it was calling itself. When simplifying, (especially a lede sentence), it's best to state the sentence in such a way that it gets the message across. Even on enwiki, the lede sentence should really state what the article is about in plain terms.
- I get that the subject isn't just a website, but if wanted an idea of what it was, I think the discription above is a suitable one. And, if not, the great thing about Wikipedia is that someone else might have a better wording. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 09:00, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
Can you please follow the same format have had for years here? Wrapped in brackets:
The vk for keep; vd for delete; support, etc. It’s easier to see them standing out amongst a mass of messages like the one for the Trust article. If you find we don’t have a shortcut here for something you may have at ENWP let me know and I’ll be glad to create it. Thanks, and be well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 12:25, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, do you have a policy as to why you'd need it to be in a template? All those templates do is produce a bolded !vote. It should be noted that, at any venue, you do not need to have one. These are discussions, not votes. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:26, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- if you are specifically worried about the little image icon that appears, why not try en:User:Ais523/votesymbols? Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:30, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- I tried that and it doesn’t work which is why we have the templates. I have found that a lot of scripts are not up to date with the current configurations across all of Wiki Simple English. I have some basic ones that don’t work on DA and RU Wp. Thanks, and be well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 12:33, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- I just tried it, it works fine. Just put importScript(':en:User:Ais523/votesymbols.js'); //Linkback: [[User:Ais523/votesymbols.js]] Added by Script installer into your common.js and it'll work. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:37, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- I can’t use script installer so I manually put them in with subst:iuc|……
- Also, it was just a suggestion as it’s just been our norm here for many years.
- Maybe you can help me get w:User:Anomie/unsignedhelper to work? Thanks, and be well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 12:49, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- Have you tried just putting in importScript(':en:User:Anomie/unsignedhelper.js'); // Linkback: [[:en:User:Anomie/unsignedhelper.js]] into your common.js? Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:29, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- Yes but it doesn’t show anything at the bottom other than submit preview cancel. I do not see any wiki markup. Thanks, and be well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 21:52, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- hmm, I can't see anything specific as to why it wouldn't work, it all looks site independent, but I'm not the biggest technical guy. It does say on the docs that things like certain versions of the editor don't work with it. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 22:11, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- I don’t have any of the editors on. On meta it works because it shows because they have the info at the bottom. Is there something specific I need to turn on in my settings? I did ask the creator but I have heard nothing back. Thanks, and be well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 22:16, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I know. Possibly not. It may just need some reworking. Obviously the creator would have more knowledge, but of course they made it for en.Wiki, so they may not wish to support it on other sites. I may have a look if I find myself with a spare half hour. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 22:17, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Lee Vilenski It’s been our practice for years to use them. They stand out amongst the bolded words. Thanks, and be well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 12:31, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- @PotsdamLamb It is not necessary to do that. In fact, most of the time, I just bold the delete or keep comment. And sometimes when I don't have a strong opinion, I just comment without any of those if I feel like there is something worth noting.-- BRP ever 12:43, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
Do you know of any script that would push out templates to pages created that do not have them? Thanks, and be well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 19:08, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- Could you be a bit more specific as to what you mean? Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:08, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- Ok so I pulled in a template that has about 70 blue links on it and 15 red links. Instead of me manually going to each article and applying the template, I want to find a way it can be done a lot quicker. Thanks, and be well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 19:10, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- That would be a bot, or could be done pretty easily with AWB. Although my understanding is that we only give out AWB out without a task to do. I don't know of a user script that would do this. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:12, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- Indeed, it would be unwise to have an automated process that effected that many pages that wasn't BRFAd. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:12, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- For I think you mean if we have a task to due. I can get access to AWB. I am working on a bot too that will do some cleanup. To put the template on the article, it wouldn't need approval as it is linking them. They are basically navigation boxes for the wars in Gaza, Israel, etc. Thanks, and be well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 19:15, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
For I think you mean if we have a task to due
- I have no idea what this means. - No, any automated system that would potentially hit lots of pages (which is bot-like behaviour) would need approval to run. We have some semi-automatic tools (like AWB) which we allow use to hit pages quickly because they are supervised. A user script that ran without supervision on close to 100 pages would need approval IMO. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:19, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
Your comment is out of hand and attached to a CU request that was handled by the CUs and is almost 2 weeks old. It was not needed and as a reminder, you are not an admin here and the way you speak to me (and others), especially in that comment, makes it appear as you are one. Please stop. Thanks, and be well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 22:42, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- As soon ago as 6 days ago, you were still putting in IP addresses in CU reports, despite being told lots of times they can't do an IP and user account. Since 24 March you've put in three reports including IPs, and four times you've put in reports on a single user. The idea of CU is to use the tools to check two (or more) accounts and confirm if they are operated by the same user.
- For obvious reasons, you can't check one user against itself, and no check user or Steward will confirm an IP by checking it against an account. It's imperitive we use the correct noticeboards as it reduces strain on the admin workload. I am not an admin, and have never pretended to be one, but pointing users to the correct locations is one thing I can help out with. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 22:57, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- Please read the top part of WP:RFCU. It explicitly states "On this page, users can request some users or IPs to be checked." I have asked a checkuser about this, as the comments, like the one you just made and a comment they made, directly contradict this. The single accounts are already known to who they are. In the comments, it is put in there. Thanks, and be well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 23:00, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, the privacy policy directly states that, unless in really strong situations (I'm certainly no expert, I've rarely seen it) IPs won't get doxxed. Might I suggest that the wording is changed. I'll let you talk to the individual CUs. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:07, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- That is why I started the conversation with them. Perhaps you may not have been aware, which is OK. But still some of the IPs have been indeffed. You do not know me very well, so I encourage you to try to understand me instead of jumping the gun and posting things like that. BTW, you stated 2 only, no more, no less. Actually, we can do more than two and sometimes just one, as I stated, because we have certain socks our CU team is aware of and have memorized. Sometimes they go to VIP board. However, I also understand where you are coming from. I will do my best to follow. Thanks, and be well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 23:12, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- Sure, I'm sure it does get done that way, but it's not a great idea for it to be. Sockpuppetry should really be explicit, but I can see why it might be quicker to report that way. If we both do our best to take things to the correct board, it'll give our admins the best possible chance to make the best decisions. Have a great night.
