The Hunchback of Notre Dame (French: Notre-Dame de Paris, Our Lady of Paris) is a 1831 French novel written by Victor Hugo.
It is set in 1482 Paris. The story is about a Gypsy (Esmeralda), a bell-ringer in the cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris (Quasimodo) and the archdeacon (Claude Frollo).
