Gonzalo Portocarrero Maisch: Peruvian sociologist
Gonzalo Javier Enrique Portocarrero Maisch (December 3, 1949 – March 21, 2019) was a Peruvian sociologist, social scientist and essayist.
He was born in Lima, Peru. He was a visiting professor at universities in the United States, Japan, Germany, Mexico, Venezuela and the United Kingdom. Until his death, he was a professor at the Department of Social Sciences of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.
Portocarrero Maisch died of lung cancer in Lima on March 21, 2019 at the age of 69.
