George Moscone: American lawyer and 37th Mayor of San Francisco from 1976 to 1978

George Richard Moscone (November 24, 1929 – November 27, 1978) was an American lawyer and politician.

He served the mayor of San Francisco from 1976 through 1978. He was a member of the Democratic Party.

Moscone was born on November 24, 1929 in San Francisco, California. He studied at St. Ignatius College Preparatory and at University of the Pacific.

Personal life

Moscone was married to Gina Bodanza until his death. He had 4 children.

Death

On November 27, 1978, Moscone and Harvey Milk were shot dead by Dan White in San Francisco City Hall.

In the 2008 movie Milk, he was played by Victor Garber.
