Earl Simmons (December 18, 1970 – April 9, 2021), better known by his stage name DMX (short for Dark Man X), was an American rapper and actor.

He was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He was best known songs like "Ruff Ryders' Anthem", "Party Up (Up in Here)", "Where the Hood At?" and "X Gon' Give It to Ya". He was also the founder and owner of Bloodline Records. He is one of the best-selling hip hop artists ever. He has released seven albums: Unleashed and Unreleased, It's Dark and Hell Is Hot, Flesh of my Flesh, Blood of my Blood, And Then There Was X, The Grand Champ, The Great Depression, Year of the Dog...Again and his recent one Undisputed.

As an actor, DMX starred in movies such as Belly, Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave, and Last Hour. In 2006, he starred in the BET reality television series DMX: Soul of a Man.

On April 3, 2021, it was reported that Simmons had suffered a heart attack following a drug overdose and was being treated in the hospital in White Plains, New York. He was placed under life-support. He died six days later on April 9, aged 50.On April 24, a life celebration was held in his honor, that was shown via a YouTube livestream. During the celebration, a monster truck that contained his casket drove through where the mourners were standing.
