Brookings is a city in the U.S.
state">U.S. state of South Dakota. It is the county seat of Brookings County, and 23,377 people lived there at the 2020 census. Brookings was founded in 1883. The city of Brookings was named after Wilmot Wood Brookings, a pioneer promoter. South Dakota State University is located in Brookings. It is the largest university in the state.
