Sir Ben Kingsley (born Krishna Pandit Bhanji; 31 December 1943) is a British actor.
He was born in Snainton, North Yorkshire, England. His father was an Indian who was born in Kenya. He is best known for his role as Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi in Gandhi, for which he won an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award and a Golden Globe Award. The first movie he acted in was Fear Is the Key in 1972.
