Raqqa
Ar-Raqqah (Arabic: الرقة Ar Raqqa), an aw spelled Rakka, is a ceety in north central Sirie locatit on the north bank o the Euphrates, about 160 km east o Aleppo.
It is the caipital o the Ar-Raqqah Govrenorate an ane o the main ceeties o the historical Diyār Muḍar, the wastren pairt o the Jazīra. The modren population is aboot 191,784 (2008 estimate).
