He composes and performs traditional and modern Persian, Iranian Folk, and New-Age music. He is the first Iranian musician to win a Grammy Award. Saeidi's music was featured in The Addams Family in 2019.

LA Voyage

As a solo artist he has released two studio albums and performed at the Dolby Theater, Royce Hall, and LACMA, as well as internationaly with Hamid Saeidi and International Performers. He is a co-founder and member of the music group, Opium Moon, whose eponymous album won a Grammy Award in 2019. He formerly toured internationally with recording artists Mamak Khadem and Omer Faruk Tekbilek.

Early Life

Hamid Saeidi (born in Tehran, Iran) began studying Persian classical music when he was 15 years old and studied under several teachers including Majid Kiani. He received a Music Degree from the Iranian Academy of the Arts pursued a MFA in music composition studying under Farhad Fakhreddini and Vartan Sahakian.

Career

I also have composed musical scores for more than 35 films, television programs, dance and theatrical presentations, including “Baran Dar Aftab” by Farshad Fereshteh Hekmat, “Javdanegi” by Farshad Fereshtehekmat, “Afsaneh Saheleh Tareek” by Reza Davari, “Letters from Tentland” by Helena Waldman and the dance presentation, “Avazhick,” at the celebrated Theatre Shahr in Tehran. My composition for the “Rastakhiz” have received awards at the Beirut film festival (2002), the Iran TV Festival (2002­-2004­-2007) and the Society of Critics of Theater in Iran (2005). In recognition of my accomplishments on the international stage. I have produced two multimedia performances for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in 2010, “Imaginary Knots” and 2012, “The Celebration”.

He is a co-founder and member of the music group Opium Moon, who have released two albums. Their eponymous album won a Grammy Award for Best New Age Album in 2019 and their album Night + Day was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2022. Their music has appeared in film scores for Game of Thrones, Frozen, and Pirates of the Caribbean, among others. Saeidi has composed music for films Hollywood Street, Baran dar Aftab, and Breadwinner, among others. He played the santoor in the 2019 film, The Addams Family as well as composing music for theatrical productions such as, Born in 1361.

The Farhang Foundation commissioned multimedia compositions, Imaginary Knots, for the foundation's annual Celebration of Persian Culture at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Saeidi is an international advocate for peace and has spoken and performed at TED Mumbai as well as teaming up with Taylor Hanson and co-producing, Baraye (the Voice Project with 16,000 Voices), in solidarity with 16,000 Iranian political prisoners.
