Your recent edits edit

Hello DhrGabriel, and welcome to Wiki Travel!

As you without doubt will have noticed, quite a few of your recent edits have been reverted for various reasons. In general, parts of your edits have been good additions, but parts are also seen as disruptive. I am assuming your good faith here and will give you some pointers based on your edits, so your future edits can be more helpful for everyone involved.

  • Edit to Sleep: While the headings are in my opinion good additions, there are some things in here that should not be. The added passage of "If no, you are unlucky!", for example, benefits no-one and does not add value to the article. Instead, it comes across as a rude, rubbing-it-in comment. Similarly, you removed some information about B&B's in Cuba, which no reason was offered for. Lastly, if you're not certain about the rating that an article should have, you can find the criteria here, and before changing them for notable pages such as continents or topics, starting a discussion on the article's talk page instead is a lot more appreciated.
  • Edit to Flying: The edit to the {{Cautionbox}} here is highly questionable at best. The meta call to action of "Now, travellers, go and remove this box right now!" is without saying not additive to the traveller. The quote you edited is also not to stay, since the goal of quotes is to include passages that add to the article, written by notable people, not imaginative generic persons.
  • This edit to Europe doesn't do what it says on the tin. Firstly, this doesn't add a {{mapshape}}, but links to a non-existing article called "Geo" instead (you probably intended to add {{Geo}}). Maps are furthermore not wanted on continent articles, since they do not have listings to display on there. Your edit to the Cautionbox has also been removed since these tend to require discussion on the article's talk page before being put into place.
  • Edit to South America removed a {{Worldimagemap}}, which are clickable static maps, replacing it for an empty mapframe that isn't even displaying South America. Surely I don't need to explain why that's a no-go.

Since I have come here with a question, and I want to be certain that you can understand me, I'll ask you in both English and Dutch. Your answer to me may be in either one of the two languages:

(EN) I hope that this goes some way to explaining why your edits get reverted. Making passive-aggressive comments in your edit summaries don't make your edits more appreciated either, and only make you look like a vandal. What I want to know of you is whether you have come here to add to a public travel guide for the sake of the reader, or whether you're just here to disrupt this project. If the first is the case, I would urge you to make yourself more familiar with our policies before making many more edits. I must say though, that your edits to The Hague have generally been good, so do keep up that kind of editing!

That said, once again welcome to Wiki Travel. We will see each other around no doubt.

At my edit of Sleep i wanted only to do good things! On Google translate, the translate of 'Zo niet, dan heb je pech!' is 'If not, you are unlucky!' DhrGabriel (talk) 13:23, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
I did assume good faith in your edits - it is moreso an issue that that sentence, both in Dutch and English, is questionable in how helpful it is. The Dutch version to me sounds like taunting or rubbing it in, the English translation less so, but it comes across as stating the obvious: Of course you're unlucky if there aren't any discounts on hotels, but you don't need to point it out. I am sure that readers can draw this conclusion themselves. In any case, this sentence is not additive in a meaningful way. -- Wauteurz (talk) 14:37, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Note: This is only for testing. Hereby, i declare that Wauteurz is my mentor, and tracks me at my edits. DhrGabriel (talk) 15:44, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

In my edit of Flying i wanted to change quote to a more general one. Ivan Kekek and other admins, can you please change quote to a more general one? The quote i added was:

now understand why my edit on Flying was reverted? DhrGabriel (talk) 17:02, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ikan's edit summary did point out that a consensus is needed before quotes are changed, meaning that to replace this quote, you would have to start a discussion about changing it at Talk:Flying. That said, I see little point in starting that discussion for this specific alternative, since the quote isn't of this time. Flying is nowadays often the cheaper option compared to the "traditional" alternatives of trains or ferries (for example, Amsterdam to Stockholm and back is about €200 by rail, while this journey by plane can go as cheap as €77). Regardless, if you feel like starting the discussion about changing this quote for a better one, go ahead and start the discussion :) -- Wauteurz (talk) 17:21, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Also, in my edit of Europe, i want to change the cautionbox, provided that Europe is opening and liberating for the COVID-19 virus. Also, i want to remove static maps for dynamic maps. I wanted to use the template Mapshape, but fot that i thinked that Geo was in the same template as mapshape. I live in the Netherlands and look very much at the Nederland Wereldwijd site. There is information of interest, and i have the Reisapp downloaded on my tablet. Also, the warning box allows the use of goverment travel sites, and a parameter as . But i need to stop now. Greetings, DhrGabriel (talk) 17:57, 30 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi, DhrGabriel. Please bring up your proposals on the relevant talk pages, such as Talk:Europe, and we can discuss them there. Thanks.
All the best,

Hi, today i celebrate for myself that i am 1 month on the English Wiki Travel! What a month! I made my first edits, was nominated for ban, but for now, i am only active once a week. Also, no one has reached me as docent? Has that helped really much? Am i to do stronger edits? And will someone NOT revert my edits in this month? That was it for now, Greetings, DhrGabriel (talk) 14:43, 9 November 2021 (UTC) P.S. i have discovered a street name book, an "straatnamenboek" as the dutch say it. It comes from my libary, very interesting. Is there a special alinea where i can stick it, per Wiki Travel:Where you can stick it?Reply
Congratulations :). Rest assured, you're not going to be blocked, since the community now knows you better. As to no one contacting you as a docent, it's not very common for someone to do that anyway. As a docent on eleven articles for about a year, I still haven't received a message to this day. To the streetbook, I'll leave the judgment to Wauteurz and FredTC as I've never really used a streetbook to judge in the first place. It's been quite a month indeed. Being a docent myself, I haven't gotten much of anything in the way of questions about the destinations and topics I signed up for. The whole system is moreso there so that people have an 'expert' to call on if they need some help working something out. As for stronger edits, your edits will typically grow better with each one you make. Needless to say, I don't think that any of us will call their first edits their finest ones.
Books and recommended reading are usually put in a "Read" section, which is an optional subparagraph under "Understand". I doubt that a straatnamenboek is a worthwhile addition though, since they typically are just index lists of current and previous street names, possibly with a picture or two. They tend to focus more on history than on the present. If they actually list worthwhile sites that you can visit, then you just add those as your standard See-, Do-, Drink-, Sleep- or Eat-listing.

Blanking threads edit

Please don't blank threads like you did earlier today at Wiki Travel:Star nominations. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 10:36, 20 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Editing other peoples messages edit

Note that you are to never edit other people's messages as you did here, even on your own talk page. If you want to end the discussion, you can either blank the entire thread without removing only bits and pieces of it, or you can either archive it. I don't want to outright do this, but if you go on with your further disruptive behaviour, then you may be blocked for a period of three days. Pasting content copied from other pages within Wiki Travel edit

Look, I don't want to have to come out harsh at you, but per the CC BY SA license, you need to provide attribution when doing this. Otherwise it's a copyright violation, even if it's in the graffiti wall. Please read Wiki Travel:Copyleft before you add anything else into there. Your user page edit

Your user page is showed when someone clicks your name the "docents" section of pages where you added {{hasDocent|DhrGabriel}}. Your user page will make a strange impression to users who need a "docent" and click the link. Could you change the experimental content into a more regular user page? --FredTC (talk) 11:41, 1 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yes, i will do it. DhrGabriel (talk) 16:36, 2 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
