Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant: Nuclear-power plant in Enerhodar, Ukraine

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station (Ukrainian: Запорізька АЕС, romanized: Zaporizʹka AES) in Enerhodar, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Ukraine, is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and among the 10 largest in the world.

It was built by the Soviet Union in southeastern Ukraine near the city of Enerhodar.

On 4 March 2022, both plants were captured by Russian forces during the Battle of Zaporizhzhia of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. On 29 August 2022, IAEA has decided to send special team into the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plants, in order to protect safety and security of the power plant.
