Wizard Shazam: Comic book character created by Bill Parker and C. C. Beck for Fawcett Comics
Shazam (/ʃəˈzæm/), also known as The Wizard or Wizard Shazam, is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by both Fawcett Comics and DC Comics.
He is a powerful sorcerer and thunder deity whom is responsible for the creation of the Living Lightning. He is a member of the Quintessence and the Council of Immortals and has bestowed his power onto several champions, including Billy Batson (also known as Captain Marvel / Shazam).
The character was created by C. C. Beck and Bill Parker and first appeared in Whiz Comics #2 (February 1940).
Portrayals
Djimon Hounsou played the ancient wizard Shazam in the DC Extended Universe theatrical movies Shazam! (2019) and Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023).
