Mount Agung: Active volcano in Bali, Indonesia

Mount Agung (Balinese: ᬕᬸᬦᬸᬂ​ᬅᬦᬸᬂ, romanized: Gunung Agung) is a volcano on Bali.

Mount Agung last erupted in 1963-1964. The lava just missed the Mother Temple of Besakih, which is located on high on the slopes of this sacred mountain. Over 1,000 people were killed and a number of villages were destroyed in this eruption.

Gunung Agung is an active volcano, with a large and deep crater that occasionally emits smoke and ash. The last major eruptions occurred in November 2017.
