Sir Jacob William Rees-Mogg (born 24 May 1969) is a British politician who was Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy in the government of Liz Truss from 6 September to 25 October 2022.
He was Leader of the House of Commons and Lord President of the Council in the government of Boris Johnson from 24 July 2019 to 8 February 2022. He is a Member of Parliament (MP) for North East Somerset since 2010. He is a member of the Conservative Party. He has been seen as socially conservative. In 2022, he became the Minister of State for Brexit Opportunities and Government Efficiency in the Boris Johnson government.
