It is the highest-grossing horror movie in history with $677.6 million in the box office, beating The Sixth Sense with $672.8 million.
It is the first installment in a planned duology, as well as being the second adaptation following Tommy Lee Wallace's It (1990) miniseries.
In June 2016, Bill Skarsgård was cast as the villain Pennywise the Dancing Clown after another actor, Will Poulter, dropped out due to other projects.
The movie tells the story of seven children in Detroit, Michigan who are terrorized by Pennywise the Clown, only to face their own personal demons in the process.
