Ismail Merchant: Indian film producer (1936–2005)
Ismail Merchant (born Ismail Noor Muhammad Abdul Rahman; 25 December 1936 – 25 May 2005) was an Indian movie producer and director.
He worked for many years with Merchant Ivory Productions. He was the domestic partner of James Ivory. Merchant was born in Bombay, Bombay Presidency.
Merchant died in Westminster, England from problems caused by stomach surgery and ulcers, aged 68.
