Eric Walter Elst: Belgian astronomer (1936–2022)
Eric Walter Elst (30 November 1936 – 2 January 2022) was an astronomer from Belgium.
Elst has found nearly 3,500 asteroids, including many notable asteroids. An asteroid, 3936 Elst, was named after him. He was born in Mortsel, Belgium.
Elst died in 2 January 2022, aged 85.
