Energoatom: Ukrainian government-owned corporation

The state enterprise National Atomic Energy Generating Company Energoatom was established in October 1996 in Ukraine.

Its main goal is to increase the production of electricity and the efficiency of the installed capacity of NPPs, provided a constant increase in the level of operational safety.

Overview

Energoatom is the operator of four nuclear power plants in Ukraine in Zaporizhia, Rivne, Khmelnytsky and on South Ukraine. Energoatom includes several other companies and the Representative Office in Brussels, which are separate subdivisions of Energoatom.

Currently, the Company is implementing a number of investment projects, the main ones are the construction of the Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility (SNFSF) for Rivne, South-Ukrainian and Khmelnytsky NPPs (Zaporizhzhya NPP has its own SNF storage facility), the construction of power plants number 3 and 4, reconstruction of the technical water supply system of the South-Ukrainian NPP and completion of the Tashlyk PSP.

In 2018, Energoatom for the first time accepted the IAEA mission to verify the effectiveness of the analysis of the experience of ensuring operational safety PROSPER.

In 2021, on behalf of the President of Ukraine, the management of Energoatom was transferred directly to the Cabinet of Ministers.

NPP in Ukraine

Ukraine ranks eighth in the world in terms of installed NPP capacity.

15 power units are operated at four operating NPPs of Ukraine.

Energoatom provides about 55% of Ukraine's electricity needs.

According to the results of 2018, Ukraine ranked third in the world in terms of the share of NPP electricity in the total electricity production in the country.

Management

From March 5, 2014 to November 2019, Yuriy Nedashkovsky was the President of NNEGC Energoatom.
