Democratic Governors Association: Organization of U.S. Democratic governors
The Democratic Governors Association (DGA) is a Washington, D.C.
It started in 1983. Members are U.S. state and territorial governors who are also members of the Democratic Party.
The mission of the organization is to create party support to the election and re-election of Democratic governors. There is a similar Republican organization called the Republican Governors Association. The DGA is not directly connected with the non-partisan National Governors Association.
42nd President of the United States, Bill Clinton, was leader of the DGA in 1988.
The current leader of the association is Governor of New Jersey Phil Murphy since 2019.
