wikiproject Deletion Sorting/Pennsylvania

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Pennsylvania.

It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

    Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
    1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
    2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Pennsylvania|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
Note that there are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
    Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
    Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove links to other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Pennsylvania.
    Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to US.

Pennsylvania

WCSD-LP

Not many articles have been attempted to be prodded three times; in that sense alone, this AfD is long overdue. The article itself is a remnant of the looser standards in this topic area in the 2000s, but according to the talk page there was a failed prod that was followed by an A7 speedy deletion in 2007. It was recreated in 2009; a 2010 prod tagging was contested because of the prior article. (The contesting rationale notes that at the time, licensed radio stations are generally held to be notable, but with the caveat that consensus can change. In this topic area, that happened with this 2021 RfC; we now require significant coverage and cannot source solely to FCC records and other databases.) I just had to procedurally contest a third prod because of the prior prods. I had been considering a redirect to the list of radio stations in Pennsylvania as an alternative to deletion, and I still think that is the best course of action (I do not support retaining the article as it is), but the triple-prod means this is as much a procedural nomination as anything else. Whitehall Township Bureau of Police

Police department for a town of 20k people. A cursory Google search doesn't turn up any particularly notable incidents that attracted wider media attention. WP:ORGDEPTH BrigadierG (talk) 22:22, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Four external links added, thanks. Yevrowl (talk) 16:36, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Every town in the country has routine crime news, these don't actually add anything to the article. There would need to be significant independent coverage about the department itself. But again, small towns generally don't need separate pages for their police departments, fire departments, councils, etc., and these sources don't justify one. Reywas92Talk 20:05, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep or Merge - There's a whole category of local police departments Category:Municipal police departments of Pennsylvania. Given that it's a police department, there's coverage of the actions of its employees in case law. Alternatively, merge into Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania. GobsPint (talk) 18:02, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The existence of other articles isn't a reason to keep an article (WP:WHATABOUTX), only Wikipedia policies and guidance are. If you think there is significant coverage, I would invite you to reference it, rather than simply stating that there WP:MUSTBESOURCES. Note that the burden here is not just reliable sources proving that the subject exists or that it has done something, but significant secondary coverage indicating its notability in particular.BrigadierG (talk) 00:27, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Robert McGee

I'm usually sympathetic to pages on perpetual students but I couldn't find enough reliable sources for this person besides that he got a bunch of degrees and is a professor. HadesTTW (he/him • talk) 18:57, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Gregg Henriques

Given that most external links go to either gregghenriques.com or unifiedtheoryofknowledge.org and not to very many well-known independent sources that would significantly cover him, I have a suspicion that this article might not survive the AfD test in its current state. – MrPersonHumanGuy (talk) 23:31, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note: This discussion has been included in the deletion sorting lists for the following topics: Academics and educators, Authors, Psychology, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. WCQuidditch 00:11, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Neutral -- the article is a mess, but the subject has a credible claim at notability as a full professor of psychiatry at a well-known university, with a pretty good citation trail. The impact does, however, look a little bit low for the field; if someone with more domain-specific knowledge could weigh it I'd appreciate it.

The World in Your Home

I couldn't establish that this programme was notable. Boleyn (talk) 17:33, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have added some content and some citations to the article. I hope that those will help. Eddie Blick (talk) 02:56, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep: For a lost 1940s TV show, we at least have a claim to significance, record on where it aired and some of what it contained, and a review. StreetcarEnjoyer (talk) 00:53, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
