Khoa41860  Thank you for your contributions to Wiki English. In your recent edit to Erling Haaland, you added links to an article which did not add content or meaning, or repeated the same link several times throughout the article. Please see Wiki's guideline on links to avoid overlinking. Thank you. TylerBurden (talk) 00:32, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

Khoa41860  Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wiki English. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Adnan Al Talyani. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wiki: Requests for history merge. Thank you. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 23:14, 13 February 2023 (UTC)

Khoa41860  Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wiki English. It appears that you tried to give Khalifa Al Hammadi a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Khoa41860  Hello, Khoa41860, welcome to Wiki and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wiki English. Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who misuse multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. If you operate multiple accounts directly or with the help of another person, please disclose these connections. Thank you. Deadman137 (talk) 15:24, 7 April 2023 (UTC)

Khoa41860  This is your only warning; if you remove or blank page contents or templates from Wikipedia again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Deadman137 (talk) 23:24, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

Khoa41860  Hi Khoa41860! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:2022 Stanley Cup playoffs, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Deadman137 (talk) 19:31, 17 April 2023 (UTC)

Trying to hide behind IP addresses to disguise your edit war is a very serious violation of site policy and given your continued efforts to push your viewpoint you've earned the following warning. Do yourself a favor, walk away from this because if you push it again you will be reported.

Khoa41860  You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Deadman137 (talk) 02:18, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

    I need to stay consistent. Khoa41860 (talk) 02:31, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

Comma usage

You're treading a thin enough line right now so stop adding unnecessary punctuation. Read this [1] to better understand the standards are used in these articles. Deadman137 (talk) 16:01, 30 April 2023 (UTC)

The comma is needed before and because not including it doesn't make sense. In English grammar, when listing three or more things, commas are needed before the last thing on the list. Khoa41860 (talk) 17:50, 30 April 2023 (UTC)
What's the source on that claim? Because what you describe just sounds like a MOS:OXFORDCOMMA, which is by no means mandatory and more down to personal preference. TylerBurden (talk) 05:22, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
I should refer back to Oxford comma. Khoa41860 (talk) 12:40, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
The Oxford comma is not a rule--not in American, nor in Canadian or British English. Drmies (talk) 16:37, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

Stanley Cup Playoffs Announcers Section

I'm just going to say I don't care about this section in its entirety. However, I do care that games are listed over cities. Viewing the city makes me have to go backtrack. Viewers only need the games, not the cities they're announcing from. So, stop with the cities. Enough reverts should tell you that your edits are non-constructive. Also, please fill the summary line when completing your edits that way other editors know what you're doing. Conyo14 (talk) 18:52, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

Over citing

Hi there! I first want to thank you so much for assisting in enhancing Wikipedia articles. However, I would like to draw your attention to WP:CITEOVERKILL. In regards to your recent edit to Ray Ferraro, I do not think adding all of those sources was necessary. BUT there are other parts of the article that could’ve used some. Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wiki arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:37, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of List of Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Finals broadcasters

Hello Khoa41860,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged List of Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Finals broadcasters for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Khoa41860  Hello Khoa41860! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wiki: Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wiki: Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wiki English. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wiki: Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wiki: Copying within Wiki. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. This is in relation to your two Eastern and Western Stanley Cup Finals broadcaster articles (notices above). They appear to be largely copied from icehockey.fandom.com. While that site has a CC-by-SA licence, it requires attribution - you can't just copy text from there, you must also credit the original author(s), which can be done in the edit summary that introduces the copied content. Thank you. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 18:05, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

Heidi Game

I wanted to discuss with you your moving sources into the individual references. It seems to me WP:CITEVAR applies and you should seek consensus to do this As it says, "Editors should not attempt to change an article's established citation style, merely on the grounds of personal preference or to make it match other articles, without first seeking consensus for the change." That seems to me to be what you are doing, without any real explanation for what you are doing. Also, references 2, 12, 32, 36, 37, 38, and 47 now show with referencing errors which did not exist before. I appreciate the time you spent, but how is this an improvement? Wehwalt (talk) 02:25, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

I tried to improve them by fixing as many errors as possible. Khoa41860 (talk) 02:39, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
Still problems with refs 31, 35, 36, 37, 47. They are showing up with red Harv errors. It's because you removed the books from the sources area and did not put the full citation in those references. Still would be grateful for an explanation as to why this is better than having a sources section and short citations. Wehwalt (talk) 02:52, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
I will fix them all by adding some citations of books. Khoa41860 (talk) 03:05, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
I'd like to advise you of MOS:ELIPSIS. "Generally, use a non-breaking space before an ellipsis, and a regular space after it: But where an ellipsis is immediately followed by any of . ? ! : ; , ) ] } or by a closing quotation mark (single or double), use a non-breaking space before the ellipsis, and no space after it" You on the other hand are removing the non-breaking spaces from before ellipses. This is not a good idea, and is in violation of our Manual of Style.--Wehwalt (talk) 18:12, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
Remove all redundants. Khoa41860 (talk) 18:17, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
I've reverted you. Could I ask that you start discussions at Talk:Heidi Game of anything you want to do? Because Featured Articles tend to be well-watched and if you don't do things by the book (in this case the MOS), there's likely to be discussions. Wehwalt (talk) 18:22, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

Khoa41860

Your recent editing history at 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.   Aloha27  talk  02:44, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

Khoa41860  Hello, I'm Conyo14. I noticed that you recently placed an unreliable source into Islanders–Rangers rivalry here [2]. As a general rule of thumb, there is no need to add more citations than necessary. Please view WP:OVERCITE for more information on that. As for what sources can and cannot be used, this article provides some clarity: Wiki: Reliable sources/Perennial sources. Just search for the source or website name then you can see if it is reliable. WP:BLOG are rarely if ever reliable, along with fan sites, gambling sites, or general databases. @Conyo14: I think that Khoa41860 should be reported at WP:AN or WP:ANI, because this citation overkill behavior is getting out of hand despite multiple warnings from other editors. Not long ago I tagged Detroit Red Wings page for excessive citations. – sbaio 12:34, 12 March 2024 (UTC)

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

Khoa41860  Thank you for your contributions to Wiki English. It appears that you copied or moved text from History of ESPN on ABC into History of the National Hockey League on United States television. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wiki's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wiki: Copying within Wiki. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 13:56, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

Categories

I have noticed that you have been adding team categories to rivalry pages where they already have a sub-category within the larger team category. As an example Category:Green Bay Packers rivalries already exists within Category:Green Bay Packers. There is no need to duplicate the category and sub-category. Also, whenever you see text after a bar ( | ), that is used to organize the category in a larger category. Please don't remove that text. As an example Packers–Seahawks rivalry would be automatically organized under "P" (the first letter of the category name) in Category:History of the Green Bay Packers, but that isn't exactly helpful. What's better is to categorize it under the name of the rival, thus adding |Seattle Seahawks at the end of the category name will organize it as such. As a general recommendation, if you aren't sure what you are changing, don't make the change, or ask first. Thanks. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 23:24, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

Overusing citations

Hello, I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Jim Schoenfeld (or any of the other articles) have been partially undone because they had WP:OVERCITE issues. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks." Gymrat16 (talk) 22:04, 23 March 2024 (UTC)

Khoa41860  Hello, I wanted to let you know that one of your recent contributions to Bruins–Canadiens rivalry have been undone because they had WP:OVERCITE issues. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Conyo14 (talk) 19:46, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

Khoa41860  I'm considering this your first official warning as your behavior is becoming disruptive. Please review WP:OVERCITE. For general purposes, citing a sentence is fine, but when you add on too many, it becomes cluttered. Please consider what you are trying to cite then limit the source to one or two at most. Also, the lead (first paragraph) typically does not need citations, or it is limited to one. Conyo14 (talk) 05:09, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
