Don't see any citation for this, and isn't co-dependency quite the opposite problem than dysfunctional families? 173.180.202.22 (talk) 21:29, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

That sentence is sexist and doesn't belong on wikipedia. I'm removing it again, and if it's re-restored, I'm contacting the admins for vandalism. Bumblebritches57 (talk) 01:58, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
Actually, I'm removing the entire sentence because it's fucking useless. "which was socially unacceptable at the time. Historically, children of dysfunctional families were expected to obey their parents (ultimately the father)" Disobeying parents is STILL socially unacceptable, and doesn't need to be stated at all. This article does not read like an encyclopedia article. It needs a major rewrite to make it useful to the general-interest reader. A collection of lists does not an article make, and the whole thing appears to have been lifted verbatim from a self-help book. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.20.8.226 (talk) 06:51, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

Someone with real qualifications in psychology should completely rewrite this, or maybe the entire thing should be scrapped altogether. This isn't an adequate explanation of what truly defines a "dysfunctional family", imo. It seems like whoever wrote this had a lot of bias from their own family issues. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.78.192.41 (talk) 06:22, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
