Hi everyone.

Livescores and live updates

As I believe we will have a lot of problems with livescores and live updating I thought I should bring it up here so everyone knows about it.

Based on Wikipedia policies and guidlines we should not provide livescores and live updates. This is according to WP:LIVESCORES and WT:FOOTY consensus at Wiki talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 81#Live scoring and it has also been discussed at other time periods. This also applies to live updates to tables and list such as top goalscorers, squad statistics and other match info, which you can also read about at Wiki talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 81#Live updates (again). Please wait until matches are finished before adding the scores and statistics. Wikipedia is not for livescoring and should wait for update until sources are updated. Thank you. Ivory Coast - Japan kick-off time

This match starts at 2200 local time (UTC-3), later than any other match in the tournament. Is there a reason for this anomaly? -- Chuq (talk) 21:51, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

From what I can see it is the only day with four matches (not counting last groupstage day were 2 mathces at the same time). When there must be 3 hours between games it was either 10am or 10pm. QED237 (talk) 22:01, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
There's 32 matches in the group stage (not counting the last matches which are 2 matches per day). At three matches per day, that leaves two matches remaining. They had the opening match on its own day, leaving one match which had to be added somewhere. It was to be the England - Italy match, originally, but they changed it to suit European viewers, I think. - 97rob (talk) 13:03, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Colombia has not qualified for the second round yet - THIS HAS BEEN FIXED

If Japan beats Greece and Colombia then Ivory Coast beats Japan, Colombia could be eliminated on goal differential (the first tiebreaker). As such Colombia should not be highlighted in green (if Japan does not beat Greece, then they will qualify).

Ivory Coast and Greek shirts

Please someone can remove the the Puma logo from the Ivory Coast and the second Greek shirts? None of the other teams' kits here shows the badges and kit makers logos and I don't know how to remove it. Thank you for your attention.--144.64.78.89 (talk) 21:50, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Next day scenarios

The "next day scenarios" are not to be inluded after consensus at WP:FOOTY. The consensus can be read at WT:FOOTY Archieve 82 (link to section) and the consensus was confirmed afterwards at WP:ANI after a editor still continued with the edit, which can bee seen at WP:ANI archieve 821 (link to section). The insertion of these scenarios has also been at Dispute resolution noticeboard where it was decided "Resolved against inclusion of the material" which you can read at DRN archieve 54 (link to section). So as I said no "next day scenarios" unless new consensus at WT:FOOTY. Older discussions like this discussion follow the same line. QED237 (talk) 23:11, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Greece vs Ivory Coast Penalty

The Greece vs Ivory Coast game currently states "Greece then won a penalty in injury time when Giovanni Sio tripped Georgios Samaras as he was about to strike the ball." However, the call was controversial, and it is not clear whether Sio actually came into contact with Samaras or Samaras tripped over his own ankle. Should the article reflect this ambiguity? Maybe it could read, "In a controversial call, Georgios Samaras was awarded a penalty after apparent contact with Giovanni Sio in the box." Here are a few websites that attest to the call's controversy: <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pg5UFMHW_8#t=33> The commentator says "Well it looked to me like Samaras clicked his own heel. The defender involved was Giovanni Sio... I don't think he touches him. It looks to me there as though Samaras has gone down under his own steam. Well what drama, what controversy here!" <http://thebiglead.com/2014/06/24/georgios-samaras-draws-penalty-in-stoppage-time-knocks-ivory-coast-out-of-2014-world-cup/> <http://sports.ndtv.com/fifa-world-cup-2014/news/226022-fifa-world-cup-georgios-samaras-injury-time-penalty-sends-greece-into-round-of-16> <http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2108633-twitter-reacts-to-georgios-samaras-goal-to-send-greece-to-knockout-stage> 69.63.36.114 (talk) 20:34, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

I could not agree more. The announcers on the broadcast we had here in Canada were clear that Samaras tripped and that Greece just stole the match. Walter Görlitz (talk) 01:18, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
