Comprises the valley of the Hudson River and its adjacent communities in the U.S. state of New York
The Hudson Valley is a river valley in the U.S. state of New York. (Because the lower Hudson River is an estuary, that part of the valley is actually a fjord!) The communities along the river often consider themselves part of a "Hudson Valley" region. For Wiki Travel purposes, we've divided Hudson Valley communities among three region articles (ordered south-to-north, upstream from the mouth):
- The lower Hudson Valley is covered in Downstate New York, the area around New York City.
- The middle Hudson Valley is covered in Mid-Hudson and Catskills.
- The upper Hudson Valley is covered in Capital District, the area around the state capital of Albany.
The Hudson starts further north in the Adirondacks, though it's not a valley at that point.
