I have been wanting to learn Arabic for some time. Many years ago I learned the alphabet but stopped there. Once I worked in Algeria as an elective while at medical school. This was better for my French than my Arabic but started my interest. When working in England as a GP I have many arabic speaking patients and would like to communicate better with them.
