Summary[edit]
DescriptionMap depicting the Russian fleet on its way to attack Umeå.jpg |
English: In 1714 during the Great Northern War the Russian fleet attacked and burned Umeå on September 20 1714. The Swedish troops defending the city, commanded by Major-General Anders Erik Ramsay, chose to withdraw rather than contest the Russian attack. King Charles XII had Ramsay suspended and his actions investigated. This map was created as part of the investigation. |
