Shtresa E Aplikacioneve

Si Modeli OSI ashtu edhe TCP/IP përmbajnë shtresën e aplikacioneve.

Në TCP/IP, Shtresa e aplikacioneve përmban të gjitha protokollet dhe metodat që hyjnë në "mbretërinë" e komunikimit process-to-process përmes një rrjeti të protokollit të internetit (IP) duke përdorur protokollet e shtresës së transportit për të vendosur një lidhje host-to-host.

Në modelin OSI, definicioni i shtresës së saj të aplikacioneve është i cekët, duke ndarë qartësisht funksionet shtesë mbi shtresën e transportit në dy nivele shtesë: Shtresa e Seancave dhe Shtresa e Prezantimeve. OSI specifikon një ndarje të rreptë modulare të funksionimit në këto shtresa dhe ofron implementim të protokolleve për secilën shtresë.

Shërbimet e zakonshme të shtresës së aplikacioneve ofrojnë konvertim skematik mes proceseve të bashkangjitura të aplikacioneve. Shënim: Shembuj të shërbimeve të zakonshme të interesit të përgjithshëm përfshijnë protokollet e skedës virtuale, terminalit virtual, batch proccesing (përpunimin në tufë) të transferit dhe manipulimit.
