Webb's First Deep Field is the first operational image taken by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).
It shows the galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 as it appeared 4.6 billion years ago. It was revealed to the public on 11 July 2022. Thousands of galaxies are visible in the image, which is the highest-resolution image of the early Universe ever taken.
Webb's First Deep Field is the first full-color image from the JWST, and the highest-resolution infrared view of the universe. The image shows thousands of galaxies. It also shows extremely distant galaxies, showing the most detailed view of the early universe until now.
It was first revealed to the public during a White House event on 11 July 2022 by U.S President Joe Biden.
