Rod Marsh: Former Australian wicketkeeper
Rodney William Marsh MBE (4 November 1947 – 4 March 2022) was an Australian cricketer.
He played as a wicketkeeper for the Australian national team. He played for Australia between 1970 and 1984. He played 96 Test matches and 92 One Day Internationals (ODIs). He also played for Western Australia. In 2009, Marsh was added into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
Marsh set a world record of 355 wicketkeeping Test dismissals, the same number his pace bowling state and country teammate Dennis Lillee achieved bowling. The pair were known for their bowler-wicketkeeper partnership, which resulted in a record 95 Test wickets. They also their Test debuts in the same series and retired from Test cricket in the same match.
Marsh was born in Armadale, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. He was the younger brother of golfer Graham Marsh. Rod's son, Daniel, was also a cricketer.
On 24 February 2022, Marsh had a heart attack in Bundaberg, Queensland. He died eight days later, on 4 March 2022, in Adelaide, South Australia, aged 74.
