Robert Mcfarlane: American Marine Corps officer and National Security Advisor (1937–2022)

Robert Carl Bud McFarlane (July 12, 1937 – May 12, 2022) was an American Marine Corps officer.

He served as National Security Advisor to President of the United States Ronald Reagan from 1983 through 1985.

McFarlane was involved in, and pleaded guilty to charges for actions related to, the Iran-Contra affair, but received a pardon from President George H. W. Bush.

McFarlane died on May 12, 2022 at a hospital in Lansing, Michigan from problems caused by lung disease at the age of 84.
