Richard Lugar: American politician (1932-2019)
Richard Green Lugar (April 4, 1932 – April 28, 2019) was an American politician.
He served as a United States Senator from Indiana from 1977 to 2013. He was on the Foreign Relations Committee. Before becoming a Senator, he was mayor of Indianapolis. Lugar ran for an eighth term in 2012, but lost the Republican primary on May 8, 2012 to Richard Mourdock.

Lugar ran for President of the United States in 1996 but lost the Republican nomination to Bob Dole.
Lugar died on April 28, 2019 in Falls Church, Virginia, from problems caused by chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy. He was 87.
