R. Venkataraman: President of India from 1987 to 1992

Ramaswamy Venkataraman (pronunciation (help·info), 4 December 1910 – 27 January 2009) was an Indian lawyer, activist and politician.

He was the eighth President of India from 1987 to 1992.
