Matti Uolevi Kassila (12 January 1924 – 14 December 2018) was a Finnish movie director.
He was born in Keuruu, Finland. He was popular in the 1950s and 1960s. He was most famous for the series of four Inspector Palmu movies, based on the character created by Mika Waltari. During his long career, he won seven Jussi Awards.
His 1959 movie Punainen viiva was entered into the 1st Moscow International Film Festival. His other best known works were Inspector Palmu’s Error, The Harvest Month and The Scarlet Dove.
Kassila died on 14 December 2018 in Vantaa, Finland, from complications of a fall, aged 94.
