The lieutenant governors of the U.S.
state">U.S. state of Minnesota is the second highest office holder in the state of Minnesota. They are in the second line of succession in the event the Governor of Minnesota is unable to serve or dies in office. The two are elected on the same ballot in the general election.
Beginning with the 1962 election, the term of the lieutenant governor increased from two to four years. Before the 1974 election, governors and lieutenant governors were elected on separate ballots.
