General Officer: Officer of high rank in the armies, and in some nations' air forces, space forces, or marines

A general officer is an officer who is at a high military rank, usually in the army, and in some places, the air force.

"General" is used in many countries around the world, and when a country uses a different word, there is another title that is of equal rank. Admiral is the corresponding rank in a navy.

Usually an army has more than one "general officer" rank, and usually "general" is the highest of the general officer ranks.
