Commune: Administrative entity in different countries

Commune is a word that can have different meanings:

  • In many languages, especially those coming from Latin, it can stand for an administrative division, see municipality.
  • In Mass of many Christian groups, it stands for a number of texts that are common among different forms of mass, see Common (liturgy)
  • A larger number of people who have similar ideas or values, sometimes form what is called an intentional community.
  • A medieval commune
