Colonia Tovar: Human settlement

Colonia Tovar is a city of about 21,000 people, which is about 70 kilometres (43 mi) to the west of Caracas, in Venezuela.

The city is special, because most inhabitants are descendants of German immigrants from the Kaiserstuhl mountains in Baden-Württemberg, in Germany. These immigrants originally spoke Alemannic German dialects. Alemán Coloniero developed when the language mixed with Spanish.
