Chaim Kanievsky: Haredi rabbi in Israel

Shmaryahu Yosef Chaim Kanievsky (January 8, 1928 – March 18, 2022) was a Polish-born Israeli rabbi and posek.

He was born in Pinsk, Second Polish Republic, but his career was set in Bnei Brak, Israel. Kanievsky was thought to be a leading authority in Haredi Jewish society.

Kanievsky had a heart attack at his home in Bnei Brak on March 18, 2022. He died a few hours later at the age of 94.
