Asunción (full name: Nuestra Señora Santa María de la Asunción), is the capital city and largest city of Paraguay.
The city has more than 1.2 million inhabitants, and the metropolitan area has more than 1.8 million inhabitants. It is on the left bank of the Paraguay River and is the main seaport of Paraguay.
