Alan Erwin Ball (born May 13, 1957) is an American writer, movie director and producer.
He was born in Atlanta, Georgia and is openly gay.
Ball wrote American Beauty, for which he won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. He created, wrote and produced Six Feet Under (for which he won an Emmy Award) and True Blood.
